Yesterday Jeff and I celebrated six years of marriage!
We were married at Disney – our rehearsal dinner was at ‘Ohana at the Polynesian, our ceremony at Sea Breeze Point at the Boardwalk, and our reception was at Ariel’s at the Beach Club.
Every so often, people ask me to write a recap of my wedding. But here’s the thing: I don’t remember most of the details!
Not because the day flew by in a blur, but because most of the small stuff didn’t matter to me. When I was planning my wedding I remember thinking “I don’t care” about so many things. My mom took care of the centerpieces and invites, my bridesmaids chose their dresses, and I bought the second dress I tried on.
All I wanted was a fun weekend with my closest friends and family – I still can’t believe 63 people came all the way to Florida to celebrate our big day – to kickoff my marriage. The marriage, not the wedding, was always the most important part to me.
And while I don’t remember what I ate on my wedding day (but oh I remember the cake, you all need to try a Disney wedding cake!) or what type of flowers were in my bouquet, I do know that I made an excellent decision on June 25, 2007 when I said “I do.” It’s hard to go wrong when you marry your best friend.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. A huge thank you to the brave men and women who have served to keep our freedom. My heart is with all of the families who have lost a loved one while fighting for our country. I am proud to be an American, and grateful for their service.
We spent the weekend in Greenville, SC for my brother-in-law’s wedding. He married the most wonderful woman – which means I finally have a sister and Wyatt has his first (non-great) aunt! I’m so, so happy for them. Congrats Dan and Laura!
We are in major recovery mode. It’s hard to thoroughly enjoy a wedding weekend when you have a toddler! No matter how late you stay up, they always need you to be on by 6am, right? So, I’ll just share some picture highlights of our trip. Instagram followers, a lot of these will look familiar.
Beautiful downtown Greenville.
Running with the bride, and checking out an awesome gym mural.
Rehearsal time – Daddy and son unintentionally matched!
The only meal Wyatt ate all weekend (ugh) – and the little astro turf patch he logged a few miles on!
Wyatt was the ringbearer and, sadly, he didn’t make it down the aisle. But he had fun playing with rocks so he didn’t scream during the ceremony either. So we’ll go ahead and call it a win.
I hope you all had wonderful weekend, too. I’m so happy that summer is (unofficially) here!
Today my husband and I celebrate five years of wedded bliss.
I love looking through our wedding pictures each anniversary. This is the first year, though, that I thought we looked so young in them!
Yikes. Obviously aging beats the alternative!
I couldn’t imagine going through this madness with anyone else by my side. Happy anniversary to my more patient, understanding, and kinder half!
I can’t wait to see what the next five years bring!
