ABCs of JEN
I'm leaving for a weeklong vacation today, and I planned on posting a cool series on the blog- featuring a fun guest blogger- in my absence. But another one of my guest (non)bloggers did not get his guest post done in time.
In his defense, he does work really long hours. But I still plan on punishing him by singing loudly on our looooong car trip
So you guys will have to hold tight for this series until I get back.
I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon super-late and post the ABC's of me. Note, this isn't the first time I'm late to a party. I still haven't joined facebook! True story.
ABCs of JEN
A: Age. 28 for a few more weeks. Though I still feel like a 15 year old. Fun fact, the friends I was closest with when I was 15 are still the people I'm closest with today
B: Bed size. Queen. We always say we should get a King since the 50 lb. furball sleeps horizontally between us, but we like being cozy.
C: Chores you dislike. Umm… all of them? Anything related to cleaning. I hate dirt, dust, and crumbs. I loathe touching things that are dirty, like garbage. I wish everything would stay perpetually clean. Think of how many fewer germs there'd be in the world. One can dream…
D: Dogs. Nati, the 8.5 year old black lab/ chow chow mix who is the love of my life. We adopted him from the shelter when he was only 3 weeks old!
E: Essential start to your day. Coffee. I am so addicted. I switched to half-caff a couple years ago because my addiction was so bad. I've been known to start crying if I don't have my coffee within an hour of waking.
F: Favorite color. Yellow or Clemson orange.
G: Gold or silver. White gold. I'm allergic to silver.
H: Height. 5'7". I've been this tall since I was 14. Though my doctor recently said I was really 5'7 1/2". Not sure if I buy that.
I: Instruments you play(ed). My body is my instrument and I run
I also played clarinet for nearly 2 weeks in fourth grade.
J: Job title. Senior Medical Writer. Previous job titles include Health Communications Specialist, Secret Shopper, Dog Walker, and Student Campus Recreation Supervisor.
K: Kids. Not childless by choice. I'm starting medicated fertility cycle #5 when we get back from our trip. Fingers crossed!
L: Live. In SC, just a few miles south of Charlotte, NC. I am from NJ though, and that will always be my home.
M: Mom's name. Virginia, but she goes by Ginny. It's also her mom's name. I am thankful they didn't continue the tradition and give the name to me.
N: Nicknames. Jen. My full name is Jenilee (pronounced Jenny-lee).
O: Overnight hospital stays. When I was 10, I needed an emergency appendectomy. A couple days before I turned 17, I got horrible food poisoning (it's the last time I ate red meat) and was hospitalized. I was so sick I had to postpone getting my driver's license until the day after my birthday. Clearly, I was devastated.
P: Pet peeves. People who are closed-minded or just accept other people's opinions without doing their own research. Yes, I am talking about people who watch talking heads on news channels. Do your own research or else you're just getting a biased opinion. Oh and people who don't use their turn signals. Hate that.
Q: Quote from a movie: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it." - Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Awesome quote. Awesome movie.
R: Righty or lefty. Righty.
S: Siblings. Brother Jimmy. Three years younger than me, but way taller and smarter.
T: Time you wake up. Between 5:30-6:30 depending on the season and if I plan to exercise before work.
U: Underwear. Yes. And only cotton because I want to avoid things like this.
V: Vegetables you don't like. I'm a really picky eater. I don't like mushrooms, onions (except scallions), tomatoes, or big chunks of peppers.
W: What makes you run late. Other people. I am always early, unless I am waiting on someone else.
X: X-rays you've had. Too many to count. I've dislocated both elbows, had back problems, chest illnesses, and tons taken of my teeth.
Y: Yummy food you make. I am not a good cook at all
I can follow recipes but I don't have anything that's my own. And that's fine by me!
Z: Zoo animal favorites. I do not like zoos at all. And it's not because I'm against having animals in captivity. I just find zoos boring, smelly, and dirty. My favorite wild animal is the polar bear. But dogs are hands down my fave of all critters.
I'm guessing you learned nothing too shocking about me. At least not as shocking when you all found out I had 4 tattoos
What's something people are surprised to learn about you?

I didn’t get the chicken pox till I was 23. Also I went to a one-room school house (and I’m only 31) K-3rd grade, and had just a half a year of Kindergarten, b/c I started in January and went all day. (I’m from Nebraska, and I guess we do things a little different!LOL)

So fun to learn more about you!! Had no idea Jenilee was your full name – I love that! People who don’t know me are most surprised to learn that I have fun a marathon with my mom twice

These ABCs are so fun!! But if you’re late to the party, I must have missed it completely, because I still haven’t done one…yet keep considering it. By the time I get around to deciding I’ll have missed the boat completely
Your comment about chores/germs made me laugh out loud. I’m sorry you have to deal with so many germs on a daily basis. Also totally agree with your pet peeve – it’s a huge one of mine too!! And my grandma’s name is also Ginny! But I think it’s a cute name
Have a wonderful trip!!

I love these posts! I “played” the clarinet in sixth grade, until my brother shut my finger in the van door and broke it. I was actually happy. I had an excuse to get out of the band. Apparently, I’m not musically inclined!
You would have a tough time working in an elementary school. It’s like one big germ-fest! I’m actually starting to think my immune system has gotten stronger because of it, but it is pretty gross.
I hope you have an amazing vacation!
